The self is constantly confronted with
the irrepressible
oscillation of the things of the world,
and risks getting lost in the labyrinth
of their infinite travels.
-Germano Celant, 1988

My interests are constantly shifting between the ideas of
landscape and body. Both have a strong association with
containment for me. Landscape is the idea of context or
environment. It is a thing that surrounds, creating a sense
of place. Body,[is]a shell or vessel that contains “self”.
Often the two are indistinguishable. The body can be an
infinite terrain through which one must blindly navigate.
Landscape, an encircling substance that nurtures yet also
imprisons. I see these associations in the endless images
that I encounter daily. The fragments of a collective psychology,
they are a land that is neither good or evil.
The objects we make contribute to the landscape, things
to be encountered as one travels through the world. Their
associations invite inhabitation, if only through empathy.
